Pick & Pack

In approximately 2 days, I shall journey to the land of sun, sea and sand. Woo hoo! Exciting yes but the preparation, not so.

So packing needs to start soon but I have been monitoring the weather in Phuket and it has been kinda depressing... does that mean I forgo my three pairs of bikinis and sundresses and flipflops to sweaters, hoodies and boots?? Lost.

Sigh.

Do you know your bikinis II

So as promised, part deux to Introduction to Bikinis 101.

  1. The first person to model a bikini was a nude dancer called Micheline Bernardini on the fashion catwalk coz no Parisian model wanted to be seen in a skimpy two piece
  2. The bikini was only widely accepted in the 1960's. When it first came out, people were in shock and were all stunned on why anyone would want to wear two pieces of cloth as swimwear
  3. 1964 was the first time the bikini appeared on Sports Illustrated. It was a white bikini with a brief-type bottom and a bra-like top

The most memorable bikini for me was the one worn by Ursula Andress in the James Bond classic, Dr. No. The same style was refreshed and remodeled by Halle Berry in another James Bod movie, Die Another Day.

So peeps remember, its not about the latest style or the skimpiest bikini, choose one that flatters the body and doesn't restrict movement. And as I try on the bikinis to get ready for my trip, I hope I keep these two very important criteria in mind.

Pick of the Day

There is something so very sexy about the string bikini - makes the wearer pop and the rest of the onlookers' eyes pop.

Do you know your bikinis?

Some facts about the two piece swimwear that has stunned many and made many into beach goddesses.

  1. Did you know that bikinis were introduced after World World II in 1946. WWII ended the Spring before
  2. Bikini was after the famous Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Marshall Islands
  3. The modern bikini was invented by Louis Reard in Paris
  4. Louis Reard's original bikini consisted of only 30 inches of square fabric. He once said a bikini is not a bikini unless it can be pulled through a ring.

Okay so there you go, Introduction to Bikinis 101. There will be more coming your way soon and in the meantime, I will be trying to get my bikini through a ring.

what do you think?

I was reading London Times over the weekend and came across a very interesting article about whether the 'skinnies' have better holidays. What do you think?

http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/diet_and_fitness/article6804385.ece

As I conclude, let me tell you what I think. I am about a week away from my beach holiday to the wonderful island of Phuket, Thailand and am I ready to bare all in my itsy-bitsy bikini, you bet. For the very simple reason that those folks on the same beach where I will be parading my less than perfect body will not be the people I am likely to meet again. So seriously, who cares.

So treat them like you would a bartender, 'spill' (over) all your 'problems' (areas) coz it is perfectly alright. It is your body, show it off wherever and whichever way you want.
